Starting in December, the maximum HIP benefit a household can use will be $20 a month for all households, regardless of size.

The Healthy Incentives Program or HIP is a Massachusetts program that puts money back on your EBT card when you use SNAP to buy healthy, local fruits and vegetables from HIP-participating farm vendors. Find out more about HIP at mass.gov/HIP. Find participating vendors at DTAFinder.com.

FOOD ACCESS PROGRAMS

Healthy Incentives Program

The Healthy Incentives Program (HIP) is a statewide initiative that matches each SNAP dollar spent on targeted fruits and vegetables at participating farmers' market farms. An equal amount of money, up to a monthly limit, is instantly credited back to a shopper's SNAP account at the time of purchase. For example, if you spend $20 at a HIP farm, your SNAP account will instantly be credited $20. Shoppers can use this extra benefit right away or save it for another shopping trip later.

Farm to Family Program

In addition to HIP, SNAP and Weymouth Food Pantry shoppers can DOUBLE their dollars at the Weymouth Farmers Market up to an additional $20 per market through Weymouth's Farm to Family (Token) Program. Shoppers participate in the program by swiping a credit, debit, or EBT card in exchange for wooden tokens that act like currency at the market. SNAP and Food Pantry shoppers receive double their dollars back in wooden tokens, up to the $20 limit. Tokens never expire, so shoppers can keep what they don't use for more shopping later. [*]

Weymouth's Farm to Family Program is a cooperative project between the Town of Weymouth and Weymouth Food Pantry.

[*] SNAP and Food Pantry tokens may be used only for the purchase of SNAP-eligible food at the Weymouth Farmers Market. Tokens are not redeemable for cash or change. A minimum $2.50 transaction amount applies.
